Explore artist Robert Bateman’s Haliburton cabin

Famed artist and naturalist Robert Bateman is selling his cosy cottage near the Buckslide River in the Haliburton Highlands. While he and his wife are sad to part with the house, they now live on Salt Spring Island, B.C. and only get to stay at the cabin for a few weeks every other year.

“We put it on the market with a view to having conversations with whoever buys it,” Bateman told the Toronto Star. He and his wife want to make sure it’s passed on to owners who will appreciate the surrounding nature.

“It’s no good if you like waterskiing or motorboats, or what I call the vroom-vroom mentality.”

The post-and-beam cabin is close to two beautiful waterfalls—one of which inspired Bateman’s “Dipper By The Waterfall”—and is surrounded by lush forest, which provides ample privacy.

Special thanks to Johnathan Prestwich of DeadBeet Productions for allowing us to share his interior shots of Bateman’s cottage.
