Handmade tree house covered in wood slices is like nothing you’ve seen before

Cindy and Josh Ring, the owners of TimberStone Adventures, spent 10 months building this unique tree house for their disc golf course and treehouse rental business that will be opening soon in East Stoneham, Maine. Everything about it—the size, the windows, and the floor plan—resembles an actual house, except for the fact that it sits on trees an entire storey off the ground.

The 1,200 square-foot interior of the tree house is completely unique, using slices, shavings, and panels of wood on almost every available surface. All of the wood comes from poplars and northern red oak trees from the Ring’s property, including the four trees supporting the whole structure. They are trying to keep the design as natural as possible by using local wood and stones.

This tree house will be available for rent and comes with two bathrooms (including this fabulous whirlpool tub in the master bath), a full kitchen, electricity, wood heating, and enough space to sleep up to 10 guests. The bathrooms use as much wood as possible, filling in the necessary gaps with marble and porcelain. According to the couple's Facebook page, “The lumber for the bathroom has been harvested, milled, dried, and planed right here on site.”

All the handcrafted furniture creates a welcoming and cozy atmosphere, perfect for the inside of a tree house. When the house is finished, it will have a tree in the middle with a spiral staircase winding around it. The Rings are also planning to expand their business by building several new tree houses each year.

All the extra space is put to good use with built in shelving, cupboards, and benches. The many windows give the wooded space some much-needed natural light, while also providing views of the great outdoors.
